Happy Valley Elementary School
2012 High Ground Organics Vegetable Fundraiser
High Ground Organics is continuing its Thursday organic vegetable and flower delivery to Happy Valley School in 2012. Anyone is welcome to join, whether or not he or she has children at HVS. The new season runs March 15-November 15, and you may sign up any time before or during the season at
http://www.highgroundorganics.com/csa-program/
If you don’t have online access, you can get a brochure in the school office, or contact Gretchen Andreasen (gha@ucsc.edu, 454-0409).
How does this work? You pay in advance for a box of vegetables and fruit each week for 4 weeks ($22/week, new subscribers only), 9 weeks($22/week), or 36 weeks (slightly discounted); the farm delivers a box of seasonal vegetables the school stage for you each Thursday. Flowers are also available for an additional $8/week.
As part of the school partnership, High Ground Organics will contribute $1 from every box of vegetables sold at the Happy Valley School pickup site to the school, and they will host Happy Valley classes on a field trip to their farm.
If you are worried about having too many vegetables, it can work well to subscribe with a partner – you can alternate weeks, or you can split the box each week, whichever you prefer. Gretchen Andreasen will try to connect possible subscription partners. Contact her if you are interested in sharing with someone.
**Subscribers: if you forget to pick up your vegetables on Thursday afternoon, don’t worry. They will wait at the stage until school lets out on Fridays. After that, feel free to call Gretchen Andreasen Friday evening, if you want to pick up whatever’s left – but no promises.**
The following people subscribed in 2011 – feel free to ask them about the program.
