Arts Alive brings working visual and performing artists to Happy Valley School to teach an array of arts enrichment classes. These 1.5 hour, eleven week courses present a unique learning opportunity through an in depth art experience. Classes are held after school each fall and spring for eleven weeks. Drawing from the rich arts community of Santa Cruz County, the Arts Alive program is able to offer an exciting rotation of classes to students from 1st through 6th grade in both the visual and performing arts genres. Arts Alive is run as a fee-for-service program sponsored by the Happy Valley Elementary School Parent Club and administered by an all-volunteer committee of dedicated parents. Scholarships are available for all families in need. The Arts Alive program also works to provide other arts enrichment opportunities such as sponsoring all-school field trips to professional theater events, building art display cases at the school, helping purchase instruments for the in school arts program and creating group art installations at the school.
