This is an early intervention educational program that began in 2002 at Happy Valley School.
Reading Recovery™ is an intensive, individualized program for children in the first grade. Children that have been identified by their teacher as needing an accelerated program in reading and writing are selected for the program. These children are individually taught thirty-minute lessons every day for 12-20 weeks.

Reading Recovery is provided by our kindergarten teacher, Katie Byrd, a certified Reading Recovery specialist in the afternoons. It is a supplementary program that was first made possible by Title 1 funds and continues with the support of the School Board and Administrator at Happy Valley School.
